Ashley Intartaglia joined host Gregg Jarrett and co-panelist Taryn Rosenkranz to discuss whether states should issue reform on food purchases for those receiving food stamps. Intartaglia supported the Wisconsin bill that would push those on public assistance to purchase a higher portion of healthy foods.
“This bill is not asking people to never buy junk food and the sun stuff that we want to buy,” said Intartaglia. “It would mandate that two-thirds of the help that they receive from this program went to healthy foods.”
Intartaglia pointed out that the argument for unhealthy food’s cheap price keeping costs down is counteracted by the costs of obesity and the health issues brought on by unhealthy eating.
