Tampa Media Company Recruited by NYC Mayoral Contender Catsimatidis

“In a city that works hard…and dares to be great”

(Tampa, FL)  The Victory Group Inc., a national strategic communications whose past clients have included New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman, helped jump-start the New York Mayoral race for business leader, John Catsimatidis producing the first candidate ad to air in the campaign to succeed Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

The 60 second bio/mission spot, entitled John Catsimatidis: A Mayor for Every New Yorker, focuses on Catsimatidis’ up-from-the-bootstraps background, successful business career, and his plan to lead New York over the next four years.

“We are very excited to be a part of the Catsimatidis campaign,” said Adam Goodman, President and CEO of the Victory Group. “He is living proof that every New Yorker, given a chance, can do incredible things.”

“This first spot connects to every New Yorker in every borough because the potential he represents is a mirror of the city he loves”, said Goodman, best known in New York City for his award-winning television work for former Mayor, Rudy Giuliani.

The spot can be found on YouTube, and on the Catsimatidis campaign site, together with a personal message from the mayoral hopeful reflecting on the meaning of Memorial Day.

About John Catsimatidis: John emigrated to New York City in 1948 with his parents from the Greek Island of Nisyros, in search of a better life. A true son of New York; John was educated in both the parochial and public school systems, earning his high school diploma from Brooklyn Tech. He enrolled in New York University to study electrical engineering during the day, while working in a small grocery store on nights and weekends.

During his senior year, with just 8 credits remaining, John left NYU to help run that local grocery store. By his 25th birthday Catsimatidis owned 10 Red Apple Supermarkets in the city. Today, the Red Apple Group is a diversified corporation with holdings in the energy, aviation, retail and real estate sectors, with over 8,000 employees.

A firm believer in “giving back” to the community, Catsimatidis has been a strong supporter of the Police Athletic League; serves on the Board of Columbia Presbyterian Hospital; is one of the largest donors to the G&P Foundation for Cancer Research; and founded one of the first public high school foundations in the country.

John and his wife Margo live in Manhattan and have 2 grown children; Andrea Catsimatidis Cox (Mrs. Christopher Cox) and John Catsimatidis Jr. Learn more at: http://www.cats2013.com/
