Paul Ryan wants the support of all the major caucuses in the House of Representatives before he decides to run for Speaker, but can he get the endorsement of the conservative Freedom Caucus?
Adam Goodman joined host Patti Ann Browne and fellow political strategist Joe Lestingi on Fox News’s Strategy Room to discuss Ryan’s conditions and the current political climate.
“People are looking for a chance in process,” said Goodman, “and maybe [Paul] Ryan can fill that.”
Dan Webster, a client of The Victory Group and still a major contender for Speaker, has pushed for ending the “pyramid of power” in Congress – a philosophy that Ryan is now adopting along with other Webster-initiated positions.
Goodman also questioned Lestingi’s doubts on Ryan’s commitment to his job and ability to be Speaker, which is third in line for the Presidency.
“I think it’s refreshing to have a speaker who isn’t a 24/7, job-beyond-everyone-else kind of politician,” said Goodman. “He’s going to keep perspective.”
“The American public wants a real person to lead this country and to help lead this congress in a place where gridlock has kind of taken over,” said Goodman.
